Bio

My name is Will Hummel and I'm from Mechanicsburg, PA. I'm 20 years old and was diagnosed with Classical Homocystinuria at birth. I'll be going into my senior year at the University of Pittsburgh as a double major in Finance and Marketing with a certificate in Sports Management. I plan on pursuing a career in sports business after I graduate and am currently working as an intern in the finance department for Pitt Athletics this summer. I am also the campus founder of Biggabugh, Pitt's branch of Biggabed, a company that sells and installs bed extensions for students living on-campus at schools across the country. I played baseball for the university my freshman and sophomore years, during which I served as our team’s representative on Pitt's Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Since stepping away from baseball, I've had the opportunity to join Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity, as well as our campus’ Sports Business Association. Despite not being a student-athlete anymore, I still love to stay active, especially with weightlifting and playing golf and pickle ball.

From the baseball field to the gym, the panel will share how they balance the physical demands of athletics with the strict requirements of a low-protein diet, specialized medical formula and obstacles such as low muscle tone and vision difficulties.
