HCU Network America is currently calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for:
-
- New therapies to treat classical homocystinuria by exploring novel mechanisms to obtain proof of concept to enable progression to clinical trials
- Implications of homocystinuria at a molecular level, with a focus on venous thrombosis
Awards are expected to be up to $50,000; however exceptional applications may be funded at a higher amount if the budget request is justified. The award requires that funds not be used for the support of institutional indirect or overhead costs. Research grants are intended to support projects to produce proof of concept that would facilitate more substantial funding from federal agencies, foundations, or corporations.
Important Dates
- EOI deadline for submission: June 15, 2024
- Notification of successful EOI: August 15, 2024
- Deadline for full applications: October 1, 2024
- Funding decisions will be made by: January 31, 2025
How to Apply for a Research Grant:
Download full Expression of Interest instructions here.
Expression of Interest Application:
Researchers are asked to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) Application through Microsoft Form (see below) including a high-level description of the proposed project, potential budget range, and any conflict of interests with SAB members.
EOI required details include:
- Project Title
- Principal Investigator Name
- Abstract/Summary of Project – no more than 350 words
- The hypothesis to be tested
- Significance of proposed research
- Project timeline (assuming the project starts March 1, 2025, and concludes February 28, 2026)
- Project Budget (budget range is acceptable for EOI)
Please submit Expressions of Interest by June 15, 2024, following this link to a Microsoft form submission https://forms.office.com/r/GYMzSa2Pat. If you are having trouble with this link, please e-mail Margie McGlynn at grants@hcunetworkamerica.org
EOIs will be reviewed by the SAB, in consultation with HCU Network America, and applicants will be notified by August 15, 2024, if they are invited to submit a Grant Application.
Full applications are due by October 1, 2024, and will subsequently be reviewed by our Scientific Advisory Board. HCU Network America will make the final funding decision on each grant application taking into consideration the advice of the Scientific Advisory Board and direct donor input. Final decisions will be communicated by January 31, 2025, with 12 month funding period expected to begin March 1, 2025.
Potential Conflicts
An affiliation with one or more of the SAB members is considered a conflict of interest and must be noted in the application. SAB members are listed below.
